Title | Henry Cole diary 1851 |
Author | Cole, Henry |
Date | 1851 |

Description | Henry Cole's personal hand-written diary for the year of the exhibition. Documents his daily work in the run up to the fair (most days note 'Building' - i.e. Crystal Palace - for his location that day). Entries for April show clear stress that the exhibition would not be ready on time: many remarks on scaffolding still being up, visits of the queen wasting workers' time, and being called to Windsor to discuss changes to the catalog with Albert. |
