Description A written account by Elliot C. Cowdin (New York resident) about his trip to the exhibition as a United Sates commissioner. He writes in particular detail of Egyptian exhibits but covers most aspects of the fair. Cowdin reflects that the United States "made an honorable figure in the Exposition", praising the exhibits of labor-saving machinery, ambulances, musical instruments and art, including Church's 'Rainy Season in the Tropics'. Document includes correspondence between him and John Ryle, whom he sent it to for review.
